Care & Warranty
CARING FOR YOUR JEWELLERY
Your jewellery has been made to be worn and enjoyed. As with all fine jewellery, a little care will help keep both the precious metal and your horse's hair looking their best for years to come.
Horse hair is a strong natural material, but it is not indestructible. Avoid prolonged soaking and contact with chemicals, perfumes and lotions, and remove your jewellery for swimming, bathing, gardening, yard duties, sport or other activities where it may be knocked, snagged or abraded.
If necessary, horse-hair jewellery can be gently washed with mild soap and warm water, rinsed and left to dry naturally. Metal parts can be polished from time to time with a suitable jewellery polishing cloth.
RINGS & WOVEN JEWELLERY
Rings naturally receive more wear than other pieces. We recommend removing horse-hair rings when bathing, washing up, swimming, applying hand lotion or carrying out manual work.
Woven pieces, particularly designs incorporating silk or bullion thread, should be kept away from other jewellery that could rub against or abrade the inlay.
Any additional care particular to an individual design will be shown on the relevant product page or supplied with your jewellery.
REPAIRS
If your jewellery becomes damaged, please contact us before attempting a repair or taking it elsewhere.
For repairs arising from normal wear, accidental damage or misuse, the customer is responsible for the cost of sending the jewellery to us and for its return postage. Where a repair is covered by our warranty or your statutory rights, we will cover reasonable postage costs.
Where possible, we can repair the metalwork and reweave or rebraid the horse hair. Our specialist workshop has equipment that enables repairs to be undertaken while minimising the risk of heat damage to the hair.
Unless otherwise agreed, any unused horse hair sent to us is returned with your finished jewellery, so you may wish to keep it safely in case it is ever needed for a future repair.
OUR 12-MONTH WARRANTY
We will make good any defect in manufacture or workmanship arising within 12 months of delivery. Where appropriate and feasible, we will repair or replace the piece, including reweaving or rebraiding the horse hair where necessary.
The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, breakage, snagging or abrasion of horse hair, scratching of metalwork, alterations or repairs carried out by a third party, or damage resulting from failure to follow the care instructions supplied with the jewellery.
Repairs outside the warranty can usually be undertaken at a reasonable cost and will be quoted individually.
Your statutory rights are unaffected.
