Burnished Gold

Precious metals bring another dimension to horse hair jewellery. Burnished Gold is the commissioned precious-jewellery service from The Burnished Horse, bringing together hand-worked horse hair with gold, platinum, diamonds and gemstones.

There are two ways to commission a Burnished Gold piece.

Collection Commissions

Selected designs from The Burnished Horse collections can be individually commissioned in gold or platinum. The design is already established, but your piece is created especially for you using your own horse’s hair and your chosen precious metal.

Because precious-metal prices fluctuate, these pieces are individually quoted rather than offered for direct purchase online. Please contact me if there is an existing design you would like to explore in gold or platinum.

Bespoke Commissions

For something entirely your own, Burnished Gold offers a full bespoke design service.

Every bespoke commission begins with you: the horse or horses you would like the piece to represent, the jewellery you love to wear, your preferred precious metals and gemstones, and the story you would like the finished piece to tell.

From there, I develop an original design in which your horse’s hair becomes an integral part of the jewellery. Depending on the piece, the process may include sketches, CAD visualisation, sample hair work or 3D prototyping before the design is brought to life with specialist UK fine-jewellery craftsmanship and my own hand-worked horse hair.

The initial consultation is complimentary. When you are ready for me to develop your ideas into a bespoke design, a £250 design commission is payable and credited towards the finished piece if you proceed.

Bespoke Burnished Gold commissions typically begin from £2,500.

Whether you choose an established design in precious metal or commission something completely individual, the result is jewellery created around your horse, your story and the way you want to wear it.
